News AMD Allegedly Testing Hybrid Processor with Zen 4 and 4c Cores

I would love to see a chip like that. All the cores support 2 threads so that's 48 threads of zen4 power in a desktop chip. Wild.

News Make a Windows 11 Image That Runs on 2GB of RAM With Tiny11 Builder

It would be nice to be able to select what to disable or enable in the operating system before the install as part of the image creation process. There are a few things I'd keep enabled from that list of disabled items, and a few other things, like teams, I don't want installed in the first...

News Windows 11 Sends Tremendous Amount of User Data to Third Parties, YouTuber Claims

That's about how I feel too. I hate the data collection junk and think Microsoft really has gone way too far with their tracking, but I'm so boring it won't really impact me.

News Titan RTX Ada Quad-Slot 800W Cooler Reportedly Leaked

If this is real, which wouldn't surprise me, it is going to be so ridiculously expensive it would only be an e-peen purchase IMHO, although maybe a competitive gamer could justify the purchase. It's still a ridiculous amount of power to play games. Hopefully it will be purchased and used for...

News Nvidia RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 GPUs Could Launch Sooner Than Expected

Hopefully sales are slow enough they are forced to reduce prices on the entire stack to sell any inventory. I'm actually hoping the rumored Alchemist + refresh rumors are true. The performance has seen massive improvements since launch with driver updates and they have admitted they have...

News Intel Fires Up Xeon Max CPUs, GPUs To Rival AMD, Nvidia

I would love to see this happen but would prefer, with the memory density available today, 16GB or more along with expandable ram. I thinking it could make a great tiered setup and significantly speed up client computers.

News How to Run Windows 11 on a USB Drive (and Take it With You)

That's my plan. I've been testing out different distros via USB to decide which one I want to put on my tertiary ssd to start using as my daily driver. I have an up to date windows 10 install for everyday use and an old base image install on a secondary ssd I can boot into if my primary install...

News Nvidia RTX 6000 48GB Ada Professional GPU Listed at Suggested Retail of $9,999

I keep hoping AMD has a dual gpu model this generation with their chiplet architecture experience but am convinced it will come to the 8000 series.

News Belarus Pushes 'Homegrown' Horizont H-book Laptop Amid Stiff Sanctions

I hear you there. My personal laptop is still an old skylake i7. I use it mainly for web browsing so until win10 support ends I don't have a compelling reason to upgrade.

News Russia's CPU Substitution Plan Hits a Snag

Oh, that's pure evil. I approve.

News Ryzen 7000 Threadripper Could Resurrect HEDT, Have PCIe Gen 5

Presumably, the price will be so high that the audience will be extremely limited. That said, I still wish I had an excuse to purchase and build one. Even "just" 64 Pcie5 lanes would be incredibly expandable with the right motherboard.

News Russia's CPU Substitution Plan Hits a Snag

The last time I read about the elbrus processor, it wasn't a processor worth much outside of potential military applications iirc. Russia has plenty of countries around the world willing to get them modern processors for the right price.

News Only $299? Sapphire RX 6700 10GB Tested

I don't bother with any of these holiday sales anymore. It's a lot of time and frustration for very little reward. I'd rather pay slightly more or wait for prices to come down on a product at this point. I'm not in the hurry I used to be to get the newest, most shiny toy on the market. I still...

News Raptor Lake Non-K CPUs Reportedly Up to 64 Percent Faster Than Alder Lake Counterparts

It would be interesting to test if the extra cache on the new chips helps multithreaded performance of the P cores without the E cores.

News Only $299? Sapphire RX 6700 10GB Tested

I love that you admit you're doing these at the demand of your corporate overlords. 😂😂😂
