    *Guide to Choosing Parts*

Good guide. I read through it all. Maybe add some suggestions for a good sound card if one wanted one. Like, buy your speakers and use the integrated audio, then buy a sound card if the sound is not good enough for you. Then suggest a few sound cards. Overall, a very good guide. Would recommend...

    Xfx or evga...

XFX for double lifetime warranty. They have great customer service, both of them.

    E8500 (build #2)

XP 64-bit is a nightmare. Try to get drivers for a wireless modem on that. It won't work because no company will write drivers for it. Also, lots of programs have 64-bit for Vista but not 64-bit for XP. If you're going 64-bit then get Vista or Win 7 when it comes out. 1 GB of VRAM will suck...

    Geforce 260 Brand Test

XFX all the way. My XFX 8800 GT 512 still holds its own till this day. Their customer support is really good. Also got CoH with my card, plus a really good deal. I, too, would suggest XFX and EVGA. XFX has double lifetime warranties, meaning, you can sell your card later and the warranty will...

Any recommendations for a new motherboard?

The GTX280 will fit in any standard PCIe x16 slot. However, it's the small cases that do not allow this. Said card is ten and a half inches long (10.5).

What to look for in a Monitor?

Samsung monitors are, in fact, very good for gaming PCs. The low latencies and good color accuracy, as well as fair prices make them good at what they do. I'm typing on a Samsung SyncMaster 2053BW, and I love it.

    What wattage size is good

I would seriously consider 4850 CF. The 4x00 series has much better AA performance than the 3x00 series. Usually, 3 video cards in a multi-GPU array will not scale very well. Sometimes 2x CF will beat 3x CFX. However, CF does scale well going from 1 to 2 cards. I've seen examples of precisely...

    E8400 or Phenom 2 920?

Dual-core processors are getting long in the tooth. Many games, especially GTA IV, use more than two cores. For example, Far Cry 2 spreads the CPU workload across all 4 cores evenly on a quad-core processor. We should be recommending quad-core processors.

    Under Budget Gamin PC

You should probably SLI GTX 280. Buy one now, then buy another later. Tri-way SLI scaling is not pretty nor worth the money. Of course, NVIDIA will prove me wrong when newer drivers are released. So Tri-way SLI scaling will improve greatly over time. But, keep in mind that your performance will...

    XfX 4870?

XFX has not released ATI video cards, yet. I'm hoping to upgrade to a 4870 1GB, too. It might well be from XFX like my current video card. You both don't make much sense. Give capitalization and proper punctuation a try.

Best Graphics Cards For The Money: Jan. '09

Shrank is actually a real adjective. It means parched or shrivelled and is used to describe seeds. Looked it up in the online Oxford English Dictionary. (Check your local library's database to gain access to it, you'll need a library card number.)
