For me with the same cpu I have deicided to run it till it dies. Mine was at 4,8Ghz, but I actually put it down to 4,6 because its performing enough well for any my games already. So I'd say clock it, or go for the new ryzen's.

My i5 4690k @4,6 is fine with the rtx, but its on the edge with new games. Next gen cpu is prolly the time to upgrade. Amazing cpu it is tho.

The mobo is MSI A88XM-E45. Its just a stock fan wich came in a HP prebuilt desktop. Connected with a 3 pin connector (same as on the old mobo) It registers as a system fan. It did a few times slow down, but just for a few seconds. Its pretty loud even tho its a small fan :/

So yea, after I put my pc back up with a new mobo, the system fan is running 100% speed 24/7. I don't know how to fix this. SpeedFan did not work for me. The fan is at rear of the chassis blowing air out. (cold air, all temps are fine) I tried to change the fan settings in the BIOS, but nothing...

Do you think if I take my mobo out and take a picture you could tell me does a retail mobo fit fine?

And I mean does a retail mobo has the screw places in a propriate place to screw it in my case, all they in the same place on every mobo or do they vary.

all programs recognized the new cpu, but windows didnt. So I reinstalled windows and now its okay. The stock hp board doesnt have the needed brackets for the retail coolers, the x4 760k has connects same as the retail coolers so it wont fit on my board. Theres nothing where to install it. Google...

Where to get such thing, is it expensive?

Hey, thanks for reply. I just got the x4 760k and i plugged it in like a man and it works perfect, lol. Problems appeared tho, the new heatsink wont fit on my mobo. My mobo doesnt have the brackets to put the cooler in. So I need to get a new mobo. Then again does the mobos screw in the same way...

So if I get a new mobo, I should be able to recover windows from the HD? No need to get a new windows?
