[SOLVED] Trying to find a 1440p monitor under 320

I have had decent luck getting 120-144hz consistently on most games on my 5700XT (similar performance figures to a 2070). Anyways, another thing to consider is adaptive sync, in your case GSync. GSync comes at a very heavy price tag. Buying new would be difficult if you want GSync, but if you...

[SOLVED] No Thermal Paste on GPU?

I had a really old GTS 250 laying around with a blower cooler on it and I decided to take it apart. When I got the cooler off I realized there was no thermal paste on the GPU chip. There were thermal pads on the memory modules, and a small amount of residue of paste on the corners of the chip...

    [SOLVED] Suspected Bad Power Supply

Sounds logical, I don't have a multimeter, but I do have an irrational fear of touching live wires. I'm thinking I'll just throw in a new Thermaltake PSU and see if that fixes it. On a less relates note, how do you feel about Rosewill PSU's?

    [SOLVED] Suspected Bad Power Supply

Howdy, I have an old build that I haven't used in a couple years. When I tried to turn it on today the mobo screen popped op with weird symbols that kind of looked like encryption. Then it black screened. No ASRock logo, no POST, nothing. Just a black screen. Already did troubleshooting on...

    Question Random restarts and BSoDs

Hi there, Be careful here with your conclusions. Safe mode does not just disable auxiliary drivers, but also 3rd party programs. So any third party software (music, games, strange .bat files) on your computer could be messing with your computer. The safest way to address this would be to simply...

Question Checking For Potential Bottlenecks In my Build for a family member.

Hey there! Great looking build! If anything I would recommend changing the storage solutions. Personally I have never been a fan of Hitachi or Toshiba products for reliability. I've been using Western Digital and Intel for a while. Additionally, having multiple drives could be a good thing. I...

[SOLVED] I Want a 750 to 800 dollars Gaming Pc that somewhat could handle 144fps for my 144hz + Being able to edit videos for youtube

This is not a bad build at all. But keep in mind, super fast RAM will not yield much performance difference. Even with video editing. Also, I am big advocate for finding used video cards, especially from reputable dealers. It can give huge performance benefits from similar prices.

Question Would CPU upgrade be enough

If you are certain you can try it, be sure to reply to this thread afterwards, I'd like to hear how it goes. I think it will help performance stabilization. The 2XXX series of processors is pretty dated so a newer hyperthreaded quad core could do some significant improvement. But again, I've...

Question Is it worth upg from rx580 8gb to gtx1660?

Also to consider, GPU's are things you can consider buying used without too much worry. There is certainly no issue with buying a new card, but you can find some great deals on previous generation cards with great performance figures. Just make sure you verify the card still works before buying.

Question Would CPU upgrade be enough

An upgraded CPU could help, but keep a couple things in mind. 1. The previous post is correct. An i5 2400 uses socket 1155, while a i7 4770 uses socket 1150, these two are not cross compatible. So if you wanted to go with i7 4770 you would need a new motherboard as well. 2. I am guessing this...

[SOLVED] Connection intermittently disconnecting for 30s at a time

I'm not a network expert, but it sounds like packet loss. I would contact your ISP and tell them the issue. Most ISP's (probably all) can do a simple packet loss test while you are one the phone with them. If the internet is dropping only intermittently it may not show up however. I had this...

[SOLVED] Which will give a greater fps increase? dGPU or another stick of RAM?

Definitely consider a dedicated GPU. More RAM would give very little performance benefit for a single monitor system (I run more than 8gb because I keep a game on one monitor and a YT video on the other). A discrete GPU is by far and away the best thing you can do to get better performance in...

Question What happened to Socket 2011?

A little while ago I was toying around with the idea of building a system based on an old i7-3960X. I saw that they were very cheap on Ebay, with some still respectable specs, and there was a little bit of nostalgia involved. But when I went to source a motherboard, I found like 2 total, at...

    [SOLVED] Setting up dual montior.

That definitely sounds like a VGA. HDMI to DP is a good conversion and should work fine. But if you do have the ability to run a line directly, without conversions that would be your best bet
