I figure if I went zen it might be a better idea to spend less? I was set to get a 8350 but I started to get cold feet when I saw that zen might come out sooner as well.

Stay away from a fx 4000 series cpu if you were going to do that just get a athlon 860k, I recomend a 8350 fx or a fx 9370, but if those don't suite you then you'll be looking at a i7 or the xeon.
