    Yes, you can, but only 1 of them can be dedicated for graphics. You are better off getting crossfire or SLI. Crossfired 7970's are beast.

    you can't crossfire them because they have different architectures. The 7870 XT can only be crossfired with 7900 GPU's.

    Get an i5 3570k and get a cheaper motherboard like an ASRock z77 extreme4. With your budget, you should have enough to crossfire 2 7970's.
