Hi, I need to assign a pppoe address from a modem to the interface of a firewall statically (manually). is there a way to get a home router or something to do the pppoe authentication so i can assign the address to a firewall ?

do you have any torrent software running ? or heavy traffic on your bandwidth? that is usually the issue

uninstall then re-install the LAN driver and see if that helps. also run ipconfig and make sure dns is set to automatically obtain

open command prompt and type ping 127.0.0.1 and tell me the results. you might be missing the lan driver, download and install the LAN driver from lenovo support page.

Go into your command prompt and type: ipconfig /release and hit enter. then type ipconfig /renew .It might be an issue with your router, try updating the firmware on your router to see if it helps.

If you updated the wireless driver then you might need to buy a wireless usb adapter. Also try taking all other devices off the wifi and see if the speeds increase (http://www.speedtest.net/). Your wireless routers location might also play a part in it

you might have to reinstall your windows os. something might be blocking it. what is the status in adapter settings ?

ok plug in the router you are trying to log into, go into your command prompt and type ipconfig /release and hit enter, then type ipconfig /renew, you should see the default gateway, type that into your browser

go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections, double click on the connection, then hit properties, then click ipv4 and make sure it is set to obtain ip address automatically and dns automatically. also in the start menu type cmd and then type ipconfig and screen shot the results

can you provide more detail ?so you connect your laptop directly to your router ?

you are trying to access the Internet wirelessly ? make sure the wifi switch at the front of the laptop is turned and also press FN and F8 to turn on your wifi

So when you plug the ethernet cable into your computer from your laptop it still says no connection ?

have you tried looking here Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections ? and right clicking then enable

what does the wireless symbol on the bottom left corner look like ?if its a red X check the pc to make sure wireless is on, if its a laptop you could turn in on with one of the F keys depending on the manufacture or check the laptop for a button
