    First time CPU upgrade advice

King SMP is right. You can go for the core 2 quad but a better GPU would be a better investement, than a CPU.

    First time CPU upgrade advice

Pentiums are good processor. They we're voted by Tom's Hardware the best performance, to value CPU. So a better GPU would be a good investment! AMD 6850's, and Nvdia 460's can play most game at max settings. But a better Powersupply will be a must if you havent already upgraded it.

    First time CPU upgrade advice

unless you have a bottleneck. A better Video card would benefit games a little better than a CPU would.(just something to consider) But unless you can upgrade to a Core 2 Duo I wouldn't even bother upgrading your CPU. Your best bet is to try out the Core 2 Duo. If that doesn't work return it...

    First time CPU upgrade advice

Hey just to add you might wanna try this barebone for your next build. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=500251&Sku=B69-1327 All you need is an OS, and a Graphics card would top this off for a good gaming pc.

    First time CPU upgrade advice

If the Core 2 duo would work you will see a major boost, it is like an I3/lower end I5 equivalent so it's fast. It is older but it is still good. You can try the core 2 duo, and if it does not work just return it.

Would Sandy Bridge prices get competitive with upcoming Bulldozer???

Bulldozer is basically aimed for gamers. It has a build in GPU alot like SB, and basically the point is to build a better AMD version of SB. It will be faster but Intel is working on Ivy bridge which is supposed to "Faster" but either way one is always gonna win so I don't even bother just buy...

    First time CPU upgrade advice

Hey ,the only thing you can't replace in a Computer is the hard drive, and the motherboard to have to replace the OS. You can replace your CPU but if it's a laptop make sure you are getting a mobile CPU. Here are some options... (these are not mobile) Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB...

Intel Xeon E3-1275 Review: Sandy Bridge Goes Professional

Im kinda sick of intel weeding the life out of the those quad cores. I can see for desktops, it would be fine but for servers, and workstations 6 cores can actually be used in alot of situations. I mean AMD has 12 core processors, Intel has the speed but they need to be ready for the...

Good server PC for ~800-1000 GBP

For a Server PC you may want a little more RAM than that. Especially because you said yit may be high traffic, it is your job to make sure they can get what they need. But remember your budget also needs to cover, a server chasis I recoend getting a 4U, and most likely a good ower supply(I...
