NTGeek - terribly sorry for the delay. I checked device manager and it looks like no more bangs. However, I still receive the error message upon startup. I have to contact Asus support to figure out what to do next.

kwilmarth - Same here, just used BIOS flashback feature and worked like a charm - updated to the latest and no CPU issues so far. Works great.

OK, got it. I'll order a single DP to HDMI. I also noticed they have also offer a DP to dual HDMI adapter. Would this result in a mirror as well?

Thanks drtweak, I definitely don't want to mirror the monitors - just extend the displays so I have my graphics application on one monitor and various GUI tools on the other monitor. The adapters seem like the best (and cheapest) way to go. I suppose the plan will be to just buy 2 DP adapters...
