so the problem seems to be that I don't have a displayport cable? I don't have one yet but i'll make sure that I get one tomorrow. I have the hdmi connected to the GPU so it can't be because of that

I see, so how am I supposed to know which cables are the bad or good ones for my pc? yes that's correct It is connected to the card, I don't think the whole monitor even works if i plug it in to the motherboard

are there differences between hdmi cables?

It was LG flatron ips234v which used a dvi cable i think

so in the past I have used a 60hz LG monitor and it ran games smoothly (games like CSGO or Battlefield 1). But then after it broke I switched to Samsung c24rg52 which has a 144hz monitor and I use a hdmi cable. The thing is that when I play the games I used to the fps is absolutely horrible...
