Example: If you have $500 to spend on a GPU and CPU for a gaming rig it would be better to spend $50 on the CPU and $450 on the GPU then $250 on both. It's best to get the greatest GPU you can, as a high end CPU is way less than a high end GPU. So the upgrade path later is less expensive.
