Who Offers the Best Tech Support for Laptops?

Sorry - the fact that Apple (allegedly) has great service is of no consequence to me; I can't bring myself to buy an Apple product, thus overpaying by several hundred dollars, to find out firsthand. There are plenty of reputable companies that offer quality products for less, and I'd give any...

QOTD: Do You Buy Online Gold for MMOs?

Never did it, never will. Buying gold ruins a game on several different levels. The gold buyer is spoiled by not having to grind for it. They miss out on grinding, and are less appreciative of the work it takes to get the money. I have no problems with those that wish to sell gold that was...

QOTD: How Much Would You Pay for an iPad?

$200, if I were interested in buying one. Would be more interesting than a notebook, for certain. I'm waiting on the 'Oops, my screen is cracked b/c I dropped it' stories to appear.

QOTD: Have You Ever Stolen Someone's WiFi?

Yes, have used it when have no other way of my own to access the web. Never for the extras/fun, mainly just for email, and once for trying to troubleshoot a finicky router. It was a neighbors, so I mentioned it one day when we were talking tech, and they didn't mind. I leave mine open in...

QOTD: Are You Always Fixing PCs for Others?

Yep, all the time! Family is free, but have to charge others. Most of the time it's virus issues/software. Most of them don't have recovery discs so there's the headache of finding/ordering the discs, etc. Every once in a while it's nice to have a break though...some days after working on...

Blizzard: Buying Online Gold is Dangerous

Play the game the way it's designed to be played. MMORPG's are about a player's experiences and interactions with others - not level, or amount of gold, special items, etc. You can be of low level and broke as dirt, but with the right people/parties, still have lots of fun! I'm glad to see...

QOTD: What Was Your First Computer?

Family PC: TI-99 4A, complete w/ the speech synth, 2 5 1/4" drives in the external expansion chassis, and the cassette drive! My first PC was a P2/233 with a huge 4.3 gb hard drive and a state of the art 128 bit 4mb vid card (circa '97).

QOTD: How Much Would You Pay for Uncapped Net?

$55/month 7 down/768k up. I would pay more for a faster connection (say $70-80 max for 10+ down/1+ up), but not for unlimited service. It's overpriced even at that amount - I wouldn't feel that way, but I see them doing nothing constructive with all of the extra monies they are receiving. Now...

QOTD: Do You Shut Off Your PC At Night?

I usually shut down my rig at night - the wife's machine stays up 24/7 since she can't wait two minutes for it to boot and connect to the net. Haven't had any problems with either machine due to staying on or getting switched off every evening.

Time Warner Unveils 40 GB Bandwidth Cap

This is nonsense! Why do the bandwidth speeds keep increasing, yet they now want to impose a cap on the services? No point in paying for the extra bandwidth if this is the case - you'll reach your cap even quicker! (Perhaps that is the plan - faster browsing, more pages served, quicker...
