Code 00 is before the microcode has even started - so the monitor will not switch on at that point. The monitor switches on after PCIe training has completed during POST (after some of the b prefix codes).

If you like fan controls and intend to use any 4 pins fans, ASUS have the advantage. All onboard headers are fully PWM and DC compatible (other boards control 4-pin system fans in DC mode only). The rest comes down to differences here and there in hardware (Intel Nic vs killer) and software.

Sounds like some kind of update is missing from the OS.
