Only activity in the PC is my my power button is red and GPU has a white light near the power connectors (8 pin and 6 pin) Any advice? Since I attempted to start without those plugged in, should I have to reset motherboard somehow?

How will I know conclusively that the mobo is bad? Is the fact the redlight on the power switch of the mb turns any sign of hope? Initially, like I said in OP I did not have CPU power plugged so I am wondering if the MB would need to be reset?
