I would suggest upgrading your power supply to atleast an 80+ bronze certified probably a 500 watt or more.

You can't just plug in a 4 pin into an 8 pin. Each pin carries a different voltage for powering diff things on the board. I'm surprised it even turned on. I would stop using it you may do damage to your equipment.

True, but as a 7700k owner I can tell you I have watched a lot of different reviews by more Reviewers then I care to mention. Everyone has shown that the 3600 is faster (at worst the same ) as the 7700k. I personally will be upgrading to a 3700k ( or better) next spring.

Yes Nick a 7700k is a great chip I have one, but as previously stated, its just a cheap to buy a ryzen 3600 and a b450 board. Which the ryzen5 is a 6 core 12 thread that actually performs better even in games.

How high of a framerate are you getting? I ask because if your getting a good experience at decent framerates I wouldn't worry about upgrading unless you want more and can afford it. with that motherboard you could go as far as i5 9400. but with a 1060 6gb I'm not sure it would make sense to go...

Either one should be good. If you still wanted 3600 that is good too. 3600 is the "sweet spot" as AMD did say I just don't think its worth the current price jump for 3600 with a 16 cas latency.

Also I forgot the timing on your ram is important. it will be called cas latency timing. lower the better. 14 is generally the best. 16 is usually what I try to get. basically the lower is also the more expensive ones.
