I think the point is, why does it take that much computer power to do what a (likely) $4.00 board inside a cheap media player does?

A video card capable of outputting two different resolutions for monitor/TV hookups would be very welcome. I've seen all kinds of weirdness happen when both are connected. With things like HDMI splitters, conversion cables, you never know what you will get and it's never ideal.

Why is it a $50 media player blows a $2000 computer OUT OF THE WATER when it comes to playback?

TV HDMI output to play 4K television material, movies, etc. No gaming. CPU is a six-core AMD. 8G of memory.

So, which graphics cards will do it?
