ahh I see.. I was assuming that adapter my guy had, was changing USB into (serial)Ethernet topology, but now I think it was if you didn't have Ethernet on a machine, and needed to change USB into Ethernet for networking... . thanks, R

My lappy doesn't have serial ports, and I need to log into an ADTRAN 3450 switch. I do have a USB to Ethernet adapter. I'm not sure what's required to use something like putty, etc to talk to the switches RS232 port...? The Manual calls for setting lappy IP to 10.10.10.2 and browsing to...
