Your Seagate may not be dead. I thought I had a drive die on me while using Win 2k. The drive stopped showing up in every way. I hooked it up to an XP machine and XP found tons of errors--sectors missing and the like--and fixed them.
Unfortunately now my drive only runs on XP and Win2k won't...
