I'm not surprised that Microsoft can't figure out how to put in a dedicated fallback DNS for when the user's preferred DNS fails. Considering the state of their software and customer service, this shouldn't surprise anyone.

I guess M$ is too stupid to add a fallback dedicated DNS for their update service. Go figure, considering the other aspects of the quality of their software and customer service.

Try going through your browser extensions. Conduit is a component based toolbar extension that allows vendors to change various things on the browser as well. Most vendors are honest and ask you if you want these changes applied, but some just hijack it. There are so many different companies...
