Clicking noise after shutting off computer

That's a very good point. I didn't think about that. This is the first time I've heard the noise. I'll check to see if the fan is spinning next time it happens. It's definitely louder than a fan should be. Is there anything I can do about that?

Clicking noise after shutting off computer

I have an unusual issue with my current build. After shutting of the system after a day of heavy use (10-ish hours, largely under load), I noticed a relatively quiet clicking noise, coming from the PSU. After shutting off the PSU completely, the noise stopped. I turned the computer back on but...

Western Digital 3tb Black Will Not Initialize After Fresh Windows Installation

Just to provide an update, the drive does not show up in the advanced list for Windows install. In addition, the drive does not show up on the boot order in BIOS. It does show up in Western Digital Diagnostic Tool as "(IDE)", but it cannot be read. At this point I'm really out of ideas.

Western Digital 3tb Black Will Not Initialize After Fresh Windows Installation

rdc85, I've installed pretty much everything from my Motherboard's CD (The only exceptions being a network manager and some obviously unrelated programs/toolbars). Can you be a bit more specific about what kind of utility I might need? Could Windows Updates potentially solve this issue as well...

Western Digital 3tb Black Will Not Initialize After Fresh Windows Installation

I recently performed a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium on a recently reformatted SSD (Samsumg 850 Evo). However, after performing the new installation, my Western Digital 3tb Black Drive is not recognized by Windows Disk Management. Any attempt to use the drive results in varying errors...

    Prime95 causes abrupt computer shutdown

Thanks for the help guys. v26.6 appears to work great. I only ran a 5 minute test, but I definitely did not encounter the immediate shut-down problem. My temperatures were hovering around 60c, but I'll run an overnight test to be sure. I don't believe the problem had anything to do with...

    Prime95 causes abrupt computer shutdown

SkylerJabocs, Woops, I forgot to include the cooler in my original post. I'm using a Noctua-NH-D14. The temperatures appear to be fine overall, rarely passing 50c. I was using Prime95 version 28.5. Could this be the cause of the issue? Mr5oh, I ran memtest for a solid hour (started just after...

    Prime95 causes abrupt computer shutdown

Hello, I have a recent build that I was looking to stress test. However, when I attempt to run Prime95 the computer immediately shuts down and then restarts, with windows reporting an unexpected shutdown. This is an immediate problem (as in, the second I hit the test button), leading me to...

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

After a bit more research, the only other examples of this issue I found concluded that the CPU ram controller was somehow damaged. This seems odd to me, since the CPU operated completely fine with all four sticks of ram for about an week and a half. I guess I'll RMA the CPU and hopefully that...

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

Yeah, I've done all of that. Trust me, at this point I've tried just about every combination possible. It's the same result every time. If slots 2/4 (the left two) are empty, it posts. If they have a ram stick, I get an error code and the board shuts off after 10-ish seconds. I've tried making...

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

I've checked the manual plenty at this point. I know what the two channels are, and either way abiding by specific channels shouldn't be the cause of my problems when installing all 4 memory sticks, which still produces the C0 plus repeated beeping error code. For the sake of thoroughness, I...

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

Yes. Each and every ram stick was able to boot to BIOS in both slot 1 and slot 3 (the right two on the board).

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

DeathRabit, I already did. In my original post I stated I am able to get to bios on any of my 4 ram sticks in slots 1 or 3.

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

Deathrabit, the numbering for the slots isn't sequential. From left to right, it's 4/2/3/1, with 1/2 and 3/4 sharing colors. I double checked the motherboard manual and 1/2 and 3/4 are the dual module configurations. Unless I'm seriously misreading the manual or this motherboard goes against...

Post attempt failure on GA-Z97-UD5H-BK, unclear on cause

Not sure exactly where this goes, since there are several different potential causes. I'm doing a post test for a rebuild (after a previous system failure in which the PSU seemed to fry something on the mother board). I'm using the same GPU, memory, and processor, so these are all potential...
