    Expanding my Dish DVR storage

Dish Network DVRs (ex. ViP622/722/922 & Hopper) can transfer (not copy) recorded shows between your DVR and an external USB hard drive. It can playback recorded shows stored on external hard drive but it cannot record directly to external hard drive. You just need a USB hard drive dock such as...

    Areca ARC-1880i or something else?

I have been using a ARC-1880i controller for about 5 months and I don't have any problems. It gives me better RAID5 and RAID6 performance than my old ARC-1220 controller using the same set of hard drives (eight 1TB SATA 3Gb/sec hard drives). I expect its performance will be even better after...

I set up RAID 0 and it turned into RAID 1

Lol.. I have never used Gigabyte's RAID controller but it looks like "GRAID1" is the name of the RAID set you created. Perhaps it's the default name the controller choose when you created the RAID set. You will need to look at the detail of the RAID set to see which RAID level it's using...

Whats the difference between a 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 res.?

Older games (e.g. games from 5+ years ago) most likely only support up to 1600x1200 or another 4:3 aspect ratio mode. Some games may be modded into supporting 16:9 or 16:10 resolution. I think widescreengamingforum.com has some info that. BTW, another factor you want to consider when purchasing...
