Did you check for problems with an other CPU? And try powering PC without case just to make sure that there are no shortages.

Replace the CMOS battery 1st, that should be fast and cheap to do.

Best thing to do is to borrow friend's PSU and try it in your PC. Don't put your PSU in his PC though.

No it won't affect it or cause higher temperature to GPU but, it the PSU itself can get pretty hot if it's going to have problems with GPU. That's why I would rather get PSU 1st and then GPU, just to be sure that my PC doesn't get destroyed because of stupid PSU.

Ok, can you borrow friend's RAM sticks and try them in your PC by same method, 1 by 1 in every slot? Also, check your RAM in his PC to rule it out.

Dont use pc until you clean the card replace the thermal paste on it. If you keep using it it can cause damage to the card

If you are buying new GPU (RX 580 / RX 480) a new PSU is a must!

Maybe just buy an adapter instead of experimenting on your own? I think that there are adapters from 24pin to 6/8 pin.

My bet is that GPU is faulty as it won't accept drivers anymore. That is a common and a well known problem with older GPUs, and sadly there is no solution to that as far as I know.

Can you try an other PSU
