Im guessing you got your GTX 460 a while back and im pretty sure you just started to get this GPU temp problems so reapplying thermal paste can REALLY help. Dont be afraid its not hard, just watch a tutorial on how to reapply thermal paste on your GPU

I checked my GPU temps and at idle at I was at 39 Degrees Celsius (102.2F) and underload for 10 mins it would stay around 50's C. Also the case is tidy I did all the cable management properly and the air flow is fine

Hey there, the reference R9 290 has cooling problems I heard. Maybe you should return it and get the Windforce, Asus, or Sapphire version of it. Also it can be your PC case that causes the GPU to heat up alot due to an improper airflow setup or no airflow at all.
