Try plugging your monitor into your motherboard to use the integrated graphics and see if the card is still being recognised. Also try reinstalling the drivers while you are at it.

If you are really tight for cash and it would take way too long to get the 1060, then it's ok if you get the 1050ti. You will at least see a performance boost in games that require more than 2gb VRAM.

The 1050 ti is a very minor upgrade. I would recommend you upgrade the CPU first, then get a 6gb 1060. Gaming will still not be all that pleasant until you get the 1060, but the CPU is the more urgent upgrade.
