so to be able to get 144hz i would need an active adapter. *sighs* they're so expensive. well anyway, thanks for the answer. would i be able to achieve 144hz if i used this hdmi to dp adapter and then this dp to dvi adapter(because i can't find hdmi to dvi)...

would a 1080p 144hz monitor display 144hz if i connect it to an hdmi cable and a vga cable connected to an hdmi splitter connected to a hdmi 2.0 port? i know hdmi 2.0 is fast enough for 144hz, but the hdmi port on the monitor isn't 2.0, and with all the adapters and connecting 2 different cables...
