Try removing the laptop screen completely. There's a chance that the laptop will read the external monitor as the default display.

There's usually a thin plastic film covering the screen that has these type of figures printed on them. Remove the bezel so that you can peel off this plastic. No need to completely remove the screen.

Try removing the LCD screen or just unhook the cable connected to it then connect an external monitor. Check if it reads the external monitor as the main display.

Since what you have ordered is a WXGA+, it might have a larger screen resolution than the original. WXGA+ 1440x900

Try booting to Safe Mode and do a system restore.

Try this first. Hook an external monitor and see if your laptop boots to Windows properly. If it does, remove the screen and check the cable for damages. If you see none, please connect it back and make sure the cable is firmly seated. There's a chance that this will fix the problem.
