This may seem like a simple response, but I had a very similar issue and it was fixed by taking out my ram and reinstalling it. The ram can visibly look like it is in fully, but it can be slightly out and cause the crashing and other issues. Hope I helped!

I have a 770 myself. The card lacks a lot of vram, therefor it may run smoothly for some time, and then abruptly drop frames do to running out of unused ram. The only solutions are to optimize your games for performance in GeForce Experience, or upgrade to a better card. Hope I helped!
