My friend recently downloaded fallout 4 and launched the game. After that, his screen went black and Mode not supported appeared on the screen. He tried restarting his computer, but the message still appears on his screen. Any help?

I have a product key for windows 8.1, but I don't know where to find the files to install it on a new computer. I don't know if this is where I get it http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only I already have a disc ready to burn the iso file onto.

I buying a pc parts soon and I can't tell which is better NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, or MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB. I've been told they are similar but the r9 380 is better.
