    Question CPU running so hot

Definitely as @Phaaze88 said. I'd suggest removing the heatsink and cleaning both it and the chip with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol not lower than 90% otherwise it won't evaporate as well. What I typically do is remove the heatsink, and if the thermal paste still appears a little wet, use a few...

[SOLVED] 3 GHz Dual Core vs 2.2 GHz Quad Core for Gaming

Athlon was killing Intel and their Pentium 4 however back in the day. It seems like a 3.0 GHz Phenom II, whether dual or quad-core, might perform slightly better than a Core 2 Duo, granted not by much, but just slightly.

[SOLVED] 3 GHz Dual Core vs 2.2 GHz Quad Core for Gaming

Ah, yeah, unfortunately I don't think this particular motherboard can do that. It's a Gateway LX6200, so really doubtful that it could, but this is really neat to hear about. Similar to what I've heard in the past if I'm remembering correctly about how some i3s and i5s were really i7s that...

[SOLVED] 3 GHz Dual Core vs 2.2 GHz Quad Core for Gaming

Had I not just found this custom BIOS for one of the PCs, honestly I likely would have, but now that I have, I may go for a 3.0 GHz Phenom II X2 or X4. Thanks though, was certainly what I was originally thinking.

[SOLVED] 3 GHz Dual Core vs 2.2 GHz Quad Core for Gaming

Definitely figured the Core 2 Duo would be faster, given that games of the era didn't really make much use of anything more than two cores at most, was just curious of the opinion of others. Thanks, I really appreciate it~ ;) I definitely understand the preferably neither, though noting that...

[SOLVED] 3 GHz Dual Core vs 2.2 GHz Quad Core for Gaming

I'm working on a couple of older PCs for gaming around the 2005-2010 era, and I currently am looking between two CPUs, the Core 2 Duo E6850 at 3.0 GHz, or the AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad-core at 2.2 GHz. Which of these do you think would be better suited for gaming around that era? A faster...

Thanks, I appreciate it. @Rogue Leader Hi, I was just wondering if you could potentially change my user name to Shaina if you wouldn't mind?

    i3 6100 vs i7 720QM

Understandable, if I do this I may upgrade the PSU at some point, might have to get an adapter and use it externally though, but could make it work. And the i3 is likely temporary, would probably upgrade to an i7 at some point when I have the ability to, but the GPU would be the first thing I...

    i3 6100 vs i7 720QM

Yeah I know it's not up to today's standards, but I don't have the money to build a "modern" PC, I just need one that can decently run new things on low-medium settings, and I've already done research on this particular model, and people have successfully upgraded it to an i7 6700 with a 1050 Ti...

    i3 6100 vs i7 720QM

Recently acquired a desktop, a Dell Inspiron 3650. (Yes, a Dell not Adele.) It has a Intel Core i7 6100 Dual Core hyper-threaded running at 3.7 GHz, 6 GB DDR3L SDRAM, and integrated graphics. I currently use an 8 year old ASUS ROG G73JH with a Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core hyper-threaded...

Safe to Put Rubber Feet on Bare Hard Drives?

Ah I gotcha, so if I'm understanding correctly, even if I touched them bare on my desk, with or without the feet then, I'm assuming it would have the same effect if I built up any static accidentally, thus I should always touch the desktop tower or something else metal and grounded to discharge...

Safe to Put Rubber Feet on Bare Hard Drives?

Ah, thanks for the response Soggy. The specific wobble I was referring to isn't actually caused by the hard drives themselves but rather, how they sit on the desk when I attempted to place them there, it's like the surface is unlevel, thus a corner of the drive could be pushed down, then the...
