I recently purchased a used IBM BladeCenter and seven QS20 dual Cell blades on ebay for a total cost of $2500. That gets me about 2.5 Teraflops of rendering power, and adds about $50 to the monthly power bill in my apartment. There are cheaper options if you're willing to go a bit further afield.
