I actually had this problem with 8.1 on my computer when I first built it, I tried everything suggested and none of it worked so i tried moving the SATA cable to a different port on the mobo and it seemed to work fine, not guaranteeing anything but its worth a shot :)

hey :) i just finished building my first computer, and im trying to install windows 8.1 to a brand new hard drive, however i keep getting the 0x80070057 error code and says it cant format a partition, any help would be greatly appreciated :) thanks
