I installed the OS, and HW Monitor and its says the CPU is idling between 39-42 degrees. I also have the stock heat sink, should I give that a try, or is this temperature acceptable?

I got that particular motherboard because my previous one went out on me and I'm saving up for a better one. Anyhow, I'll install the OS, and check the temperature there. And I'll reapply the thermal paste, as well. Another question, how do I check if the pump is working?

I found a 870, that has the same socket type. Now, is this processor good for gaming, paired with a good graphics card? Or should I scrap the motherboard and get anotherthat is compatible with more recent processors?

I would like to upgrade the processor using an XPS 8000 motherboard. On the Dell site, it states that this motherboard is compatible with i7s, and I found a i7 920. However, before I buy it, is it compatible with this motherboard? Or can someone inform on how to tell if they are?

I want to upgrade my CPU, and I would like to know if the i7 920 is compatible before I buy it. It says on the dell page it supports i7, but I want to make sure it works with this one in particular. And if it doesn't, can someone recommend another one?
