News The week in chip news: Intel gets a new CEO, China chip smuggling, AMD dominates

It isn't a great look when a competitor beats your flagship chip by 37% in anything, but that's exactly what the 9950X3D did to the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K in gaming. What is Lip Bu Tan getting 69 million dollars for? He shows up to a Intel bruha wearing his last companies' logo and speaks of...

Samsung's 990 EVO Plus 4TB SSD is now only 6 cents per GB

PCIe Gen 4x4 | Gen 5x2 M.2 2280 This is one of those dual PCIe 4/5 drives where it will go into either but remain at the same speed with either one. Good thing is you can carry it forward since the TBW is good @2400. Unless you do a lot of heavy lifting with HUGE files this 2400 TBW number...

News Chinese e-tailers list Nvidia's RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti, priced up to equivalent of US$528

"Assuming that we are dealing with a GB206-based product, then Nvidia and its partners could use four 24Gb GDDR7 ICs to assemble a 128-bit 12GB subsystem." It is a typo. Has to be. That makes no sense. AI writing which cant do math?

News AMD's Radeon VP calls RX 9070 XT demand 'unprecedented' — RDNA 4 launch 'milestone event

Note to David McAfee, AMD Vice President and General Manager over Client Channel Business, Please do lean on partners to ramp up production to levels where the actual MSRP priced cards are available for the everyday casual gamer. I would like to upgrade my 3060 12gb but i am in no hurry if it...

News Intel reaches 'exciting milestone' for 18A 1.8nm-class wafers with first run at Arizona fab

Anything that ultimately keep AMD from spiraling out of our hands like happened with Nvidia and their prices, is a good thing. I am not Intel fan, never was, but this is good for the market. I dont want any one single entity cornering the whole market like nvida had with its 4000 series. When...

News Retailers selling base model RX 9070 GPUs at 22% markup compared to MSRP — 9070 XT now typically starts at $799

3800 euro's for a GPU. That is the price of a second hand vehicle for crying out loud. The greed is unreal

News Retailers selling base model RX 9070 GPUs at 22% markup compared to MSRP — 9070 XT now typically starts at $799

Dont buy them. Let them choke on their greed. When they see the crap is not selling they will adjust the price to match its performance and not a price based on "what people are willing to pay".

News Nvidia says it shipped twice as many 50-series GPUs as 40-Series at launch, but it's a misleading comparison

Not at nearly 1000 pounds a card that only beats a last gen nvidia card. Turn on RT in the 9070 and you will see that for that price, it is better getting an Nvidia card. Missing ROPs version can be returned. Drivers will get better. Cant do much about the local firestarter editions and their...

News UserBenchmark bashes AMD GPUs and claims they lack real-world performance

And all that without any technical documents stating their tests. At this point that one paragraph should be considered, what it is, spin. Posted by an "influencer".

Review AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Review: Stunning gaming performance meets top-tier productivity

I am on AM4 and also thinking the same with a 5800X which is now a 5 year old chip i got last xmas for 130 pounds. The 5800x already gives my 3060 GPU enough trouble as at is and never goes above %5 But the time i am ready to join AM5, Am6 will be here. I can skip AM5 with the hardware that i...

News WD Red Pro 26TB hits the market for $569 — new capacity enables portable 208TB RAID solution for $8,299

That stuff degrades and has a shelf life. Also the info stored on it degrades in a year if not plugged in unlike spinning platters. With HDD even if the motor fails that info is said. Try fixing a chip or getting into off of it when it fails.

News Nvidia RTX 5090's 16-pin power connector hits 150C in reviewer's thermal camera shots

Talk about built in obsolescence on steroids. 150 is good enough to cook eggs with. Some items i cook in my kitchen, cook in the oven at that temp. Who needs an oven to cook with when you can place your sunday roast on your GPU. The temp only gets turned up at the end to make sure middle...

News AMD grabs a share of the GPU market from Nvidia as GPU shipments rise slightly in Q4

Last time AMD had any meaningful GPU market share was during the 6000 series. I had a 6850 and it cost me just over 300 pounds when i bought this in the early 2010's. It was to play LOTRO with. 330 pounds for an upper range card in the mid tier section. Now the same "power" card costs 5 times...

News Games might shift entirely to digital because of the 25% tariffs on imported discs

This is not a big deal to most people now. Steam made it clear you are not buying anything but a license and they deliver digitally as do most other content delivery platforms. Game disks for the most part do not exist anymore. Maybe on the console side, i am a PC user so have no idea.
