Hooked up a PSU tester and all voltages are steady at a very healthy level (all were almost dead center of "healthy range"). Now I am going to pull the cpu out and look for any physical signs.

So I got my temps right at a crash. The mobo reports the main body temp at 33C and the CPU at 45C. The CPU reports at 41C. This freeze also occurred about 20 seconds after logging into windows after being shut down for almost 10 hours.

I ran Prime95 to test the CPU for possible failure, and as i expected it freezes as soon as the test starts. This doesn't really narrow down the cause though. and i guess it is still possible that the PSU could be faulty.
