According to the manual at ftp://europe.asrock.com/Manual/Z170%20Extreme4.pdf the Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1) is shared with SATA3_0, SATA3_1. This probably indicates that the M.2 socket uses the chipset - and NOT the CPU lanes. I will assume this is correct unless someone corrects me.
