That's not correct. There are 16 lanes running from the CPU, and up to 20 additional lanes running from the chipset (note however that using all 20 of those lanes would mean no SATA.

Possible, but not likely I think. A USB 3.1 controller is built into the Alpine Ridge TB3 controller, which is only connected via PCIe and DisplayPort.

Apple's early move to 64 bit was probably more about software than hardware. By the time more than 4GB of memory is needed in a mobile device, their entire app ecosystem will be 64 bit enabled. They did the same with personal computers - some of their earliest 64 bit models can't even hold...

I'm having trouble finding any evidence that devices getting bent in normal usage is more than just a handful of users with unusually tight pants. I don't think tests like this are representative of the stresses that phones will get in normal usage but Apple's response doesn't seem appropriate...
