Question HDD sometimes shortly freezing when accessing files

If it helps, I managed to capture one of these freeze in Task Manager. Seems like the disk activity maxes out, while the transfer rate stays almost completely at 0. Hope this helps.

Question HDD sometimes shortly freezing when accessing files

I did not know of these feature, thanks. I have it currently set to 1 minute, as an experiment. If this is what causes the issue, I should expect to see this happen very frequently now. As for these questions, I have not noticed any unfamiliar sounds. I must add, however, that my PC is placed...

Question HDD sometimes shortly freezing when accessing files

Just over 920GB is still free, so I don't reckon that is a problem

Thanks for your reply. I did as told and performed all possible checks. The HDD passed all tests.

Question HDD sometimes shortly freezing when accessing files

My second drive, a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM006 2 TB HDD is 2 years and 10 months old. Recently I started noticing that every now and then the HDD seems to freeze, or take a little while to access files. This happens when I am browsing file explorer, or when I want to scroll through a PDF...

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

The latest issue I had was due to shorting the MB because I did not change the position of the offset screws. So now that's out of the way... I managed to boot up the PC with a new MB, but the loading screen remained, unfortunately. Three motherboards, new RAM, a new PSU and a new CPU did not...

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

It's been a month, so here's an update. Last week my PC died. Couldn't boot it up, as after showing the windows logo the screen stayed black except for the dotted loading animation playing indefinitely. I bought a new motherboard, which stupidly turned out not to support my processor...

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

It was the HDD. I'll try your advice. In the meanwhile I have been maintaining another thread on Microsoft Answers, they're advising me to replace the MB (as has been advised to me in this thread). I'll probably have no choice but to do this, as all else seems to be without luck (even though my...

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

I have tried using either of the sticks, but this unfortunately did not solve the issue. I must add that I still have not seen a BSOD, and that the freezes are now very uncommon. They used to be almost guaranteed. In conclusion, the PSU may have solved the issue partially. I suppose it all...

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

My PC just froze, so the absence of these freezes before was entirely coincidental it appears. Next up.. New RAM? I did a 9-hour Memtest today, 6 or 7 passes. No errors were found.

Question My PC is falling apart completely after a hardware upgrade.. but why?

Not sure how useful these are. This is what a short freeze of about 3 seconds looks like. Note that the CPU and GPU drop to about 0 while the disk spikes

Moved, no effect unfortunately. New PSU has already been fitted, as I have mentioned before
