    Overheating CPU is not hot?

It took a few tries, but it finally turned on and booted windows, but it shut off after a few minutes. I probably have to completely replace the memory.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

I turned it on after having it sit off overnight, and now it's back to doing what it was doing before, even though I have the one memory stick in, just like yesterday.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

Windows is only loaded with one thing of memory, otherwise it "overheats"

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

It is similar. It says 1GB, DDR2, 667, CL5, ECC. A few other things above that too. I might be checking the wrong thing though.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

Removing the memory and video causes POST to alert me, and it doesn't shut down. Putting them back in caused it to do what it's been doing. So, I can conclude the issue is something with video/memory It's the memory

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

I am really new with PCs, so I don't actually know where the memory and video cards are...

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

Honestly, I don't even know if it's overheating anymore. It fails before it can get past POST.

I can't download anything to the PC because it fails before the startup screen. I haven't ever seen it start windows since I got it.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

Heatsink is brand new and clean, thermal paste has been reapplied multiple times, and nothing has worked. I will try the paste again, and see what happens. Update: Well, that didn't work.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

There is just a fan and heatsink. I have the Dell Precision 390.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

The fan doesn't screw into anything. It's separate from the heatsink itself.

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

I have the Intel Core 2 Quad, and I know it's overheating because when it shuts off, I turn it on and get the message, "Alert! Previous shutdown due to thermal event."

    Overheating CPU is not hot?

I have recently purchased and installed a new heatsink to fix an overheating problem I had, however, the PC still shuts off because it is overheating. The issue is, it isn't actually overheating. I've tried what I can, but it fails before the monitor even shows the startup screen.

    CPU Overheating Without Fan Issues

I never removed the fan itself, so I don't know how it would get into the wrong plug.

    CPU Overheating Without Fan Issues

I am going to try getting a new heatsink and see if it works.
