Have you got System -> advanced system settings ->Start-up and recovery set to "Automatically restart"? If so, untick it and see if the system just hangs or still goes off.
That's a lot of info thanks! I don't want to reset my BIOS yet I have so many settings that aren't default. I pumped up the DDR voltage 1.36 so we'll see if that fixes anything.
So what about "Memory Fast Boot"? I should disable that? Currently it is set to "auto".
I have a gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming3 and 2x 8GB Gskill 3000Mhz memory. I can enable XMP in the BIOS
But occasionally the machine wont boot
This happens every 10 or so boots. The memory is not on the supported memory list but some Gskill 3000Mhz memory is. Do you think this is the issue? Like...
If you can afford it of course go for the single 1TB NVMe. There's really no point buying a mechanical 1TB drive these days. If you were looking at more capacity, say 6TB then yes, a mechanical drive is a good option.
I'd be surprised if any manufacturers would make such a display. Very few people would want the new technology of G-sync mixed with the decades old HD format.
Yes, you need a Wifi adapter in your PC. There are many types, ones that just plug into a USB port or others installed into a PCI slot. They are fairly cheap and easy to install either way.
A bit confusing, drives don't have sector sizes, they are allocated when you format the disk. You can choose from many sector sizes using windows. Cloning a drive will match the sectors as well.
Does the new cloned SSD work in the old computer in place of the original HDD?
Well you have a dual boot setup now but you don't really need to as the you have two cloned drives. Keep it this way if you like or delete one of the entries in the boot manager to get a single OS boot. But you may have a Windows licensing issue if you keep dual boot. Just wait and see.
It could depend on the type of games you play. Certainly with first person shooters with vertical sync off or G-sync/free-sync not enabled I can notice tearing if I spin the mouse around quickly regardless of the fps.
Well you cloned the boot sector as well and it points to the 512 drive no matter what boot order you choose. Download "easyBCD" and delete one of your boot sectors and edit the remaining one.
When AMD and Nvidia manufacture chips they end up with chips of varying quality. They sell the premium chips to third parties to make cards and use the chips that are closer to base specifications in their reference cards. The third party companies then overclock the chips to make faster cards...
If you are just cloning the drive then all the current BIOS settings will work with the new drive. They are both SATA drives. Most likely your BIOS is already in AHCI mode.
