    USB 3.0 transfer speed

If "Hard drives normally run at 100-150MB/s" then my figures look normal, ? That is my question. Do my figures look normal? geez louise...I'm smart but maybe focused somewhere off this target audience!

    USB 3.0 transfer speed

Yes, I thought I was asking a question, "Are these acceptable figures?"

    USB 3.0 transfer speed

I have been battling with an external drive connect/disconnect issue, USB 3.0 components. An internet search reveals many similar issues, with one surefire solution. The enclosure works fine when plugged into a powered USB hub. (Mine is USB 2 but it works...30+ MB/s speeds) But, it does not...

Wow! after lots of searching and tinkering, this worked for me! wow! I only have a USB 2 powered hub, but it's not disconnecting anymore!

    2 position motherboard switch function?

I was cleaning dust out of an old laptop and decided to re-do the thermal paste as well. It had never been done and machine was running hot. Toshiba satellite A25-S307, yes, old. I ran the computer and cleaned up files, ran defrag, shut down. Pulled the fan, and the heat sink released without...

Does the image created by Windows 7 File Recovery include all of my software or just the Windows OS?

I am wondering if the disk image created through the Windows 7 file recovery process will include my entire software configuration or just the operating system? I am not backing up the data, just using "create a system image" which points at the system reserved partition and the C: drive. Thanks!

Home Office Build, Dell Alternative, maybe Raid 1?

Thanks again! I found qualified vendor lists for the mobo but they are apparently not always reliable. Gives an idea though. Here: http://support.asus.com/QVL.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=45&m=H87M-E&os=&hashedid=khjfbKhrFHrDQ3NW That Antec looks good, but I would probably go with this...

Home Office Build, Dell Alternative, maybe Raid 1?

Thanks! I am looking at that Asus H87M-E, and thinking about a mini tower solution using uATX mobo. Got a wheeled computer enclosure that matches desk and it will be cramped for mid-tower case. Tower could hang out the back tho, so I'm not ruling it out. Might be better to use the big box...

Home Office Build, Dell Alternative, maybe Raid 1?

[/quotemsg] i5 would probably be overkill but doesn't hurt to have the latest tech if your willing to pay for it. You can also go a bit cheaper on the motherboard because you do not need that high end of a board. You are correct, HDDs do not benefit from SATA 3, but LGA1150 motherboards mostly...

Home Office Build, Dell Alternative, maybe Raid 1?

Got some ideas from that quad core suggestion, now I'm thinking Haswell. PCPartPicker part list: CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($135.99 @ NCIX US) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866...

Home Office Build, Dell Alternative, maybe Raid 1?

My brother asked me to shop Dells for his home office. I just built a PC for myself, and to be honest, it was pretty easy. For the $800 he would spend at Dell, I am thinking I should convince him to let me assemble one. One problem he has with his current XP box is storage. Not sure if he...
