I'm on the same situation. I have a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 I love my card. It's quiet and runs cool but it's definetely power hungry and in some games it glitches. Few pixelations here and there, something I've never had happened before on NVIDIA cards.

I was thinking of selling my R9 290 and get the 970... But is it worth it? I like the lower TDP but as far as performance, is the 970 more powerful?
