Question Brand New PC Turned On Once, Now Appears Dead.

I built a brand new PC for a family member, I've built a couple of PCs before, including my brand new gaming PC just recently. I'm really confused here, this is what's up: The first time I tried to turn the unit on, it seemed to just be cycling. The fans would spin up, and then down, then spin...

    ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 - Motherboard Socket Temp Question(s).

I asked what the maximum safe socket temperature was for my motherboard, if anyone knew (or a ballpark estimate), and how much the room temperature would influence hardware temperatures. I'll contact ASUS and ask them instead, since I'm sure they'll know the answer. I posted this over the...

    Computer died randomly

You're welcome, I'm glad I was of some help to you. But like I said, if you saw sparks or flashes near the CPU or it's heatsink, that sounds pretty serious to me but if you're sending it back to the manufacturer you bought it from, inform them of everything you smelled / witnessed so they know...

    Computer died randomly

Well, no one else had responded, so I wanted to try and offer you atleast some guidance. I'm no expert myself and without looking myself, it's difficult to venture theories. But the smell should tell you the most obvious part, something melted .. and that would generally mean your PC is gone...

    ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 - Motherboard Socket Temp Question(s).

No offense but that doesn't really answer either of my questions and sounds more like an opinion, which everyone differs on. Regardless of the board's perceived quality, it is the board I have right now and am stuck with.

    Computer died randomly

Typically, when a PC shuts itself off, that is due to a critical issue which causes the motherboard to perform an emergency shut down. I don't know how much help I can be, or anyone really with what you're describing but you said you smell burning. Can you not look about the case and identify...

    ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 - Motherboard Socket Temp Question(s).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131872 This is the motherboard that I have. Today, seemingly out of nowhere, I am seeing the socket temperatures (information from: HWMonitor) go much higher than I've ever seen before. The maximum that it has reached today, was 68'C...

Crash Logs Enabled but Not Being Generated.

Well, the sound jams prior to going to the BSOD. It goes to the BSOD after, so I have no idea if the system is completely jammed at that stage or not. I hadn't quite thought of that, but that might explain it. It's frustrating because I need to know what's happening but I can't get logs on it...

Crash Logs Enabled but Not Being Generated.

I've been trying to figure out the cause of some very erratic and rare BSODs but I'm not having any luck, so I'd love to post crash logs for someone to analyze but .. there aren't any. I asked here quite awhile ago, how to enable those and followed his instructions and verified that this...

    Corsair CX600M PSU Question.

I realize this will bump this when it's solved but I wanted to leave an update, if anyone had any questions about Corsair PSU issues, or RMAs. Corsair has the BEST customer service I've ever seen. They immediately agreed to Advance RMA a new PSU in ahead of time, saying I could return the...

    Corsair CX600M PSU Question.

Sorry, didn't expect a response again, so I wandered off. Just kinda glanced at this again outta curiosity. I'll check inside of it when I can, and see what's up but I'll call them in the morning too and ask what they'll offer. Planning on reporting what they say here, too, just in case someone...

    Corsair CX600M PSU Question.

Looking closer, there's 2 sets of screws on the 'bottom' of the unit there. It LOOKS like the inner set hold the fan but yeah, now it appears those just hold the wire frame in place. The outter set appear to hold the case panels on. But again, still just guessing. Well, shit, so much for...

    Corsair CX600M PSU Question.

In the images you provided, yes, it appears you need to remove the entire cover. However, look at the images provided by Newegg for the unit I actually have. You can clearly see the screws are secured on the outside of the unit, not the inside. So it comes down to where the fan plug is located...
