Hi, I have the app, but there's no button to reserve it. I have not yet reserved, never entered an email address....I'm using a virtual machine and I wonder if the app checks system capabilities and compatibility?
Hi,
I'd like to build a home theater pc. I have my small mini ITX case, with a 90w power supply if I'm not mistaken.
I'm told an i7 would take 90 watts and is overkill, and that I should shoot for something that's 60w or so. Also, I learned that I should focus on something with about 6000...
I know that there are strong opinions on benchmarks, but without them, how do I choose among all the choices? Here's my recent example. I am building a box for a friend's mom. She is not likely to use complex multithreading apps, but I want it to feel speedy nonetheless.
I also have an i5-2500k...
What about a Phenom II X4 965 AM3 like this for around $100?

I have this motherboard and it's not being used, so I want to use it to build my sister, a novice, a little rig to replace her aging and slow computer. I don't think she'll do much with multithreading apps, but I want the computer to feel zippy and fast. I don't want to spend too much if...
Wow. Pretty consistent advice. I'm convinced. I guess there must b e a lot to like about the 2500k. If anyone would want to explain why I know I have a lot to learn.
Thanks for the replies.
So what about the passmark benchmark scores?
the 2500k gets a 6725 but the i7 2700k gets 9309 and is about 90 dollars more...wouldn't that be a good investment? Or am I missing some other important features that the i5 has. so far everyone wants me to keep it.
thx
Hi everyone
I just received a replacement i5 2500k, brand new from Intel (it is a warranty replacement). Before I crack it open, I was wondering if there is anything that I can upgrade to without spending much more. For example, sell it and then buy an i7 2600k, 2700k, or 3770k. I've been...
I have an I5 2500k. I played with the "Intel Extreme Tuning utility" today with mixed results. It goes through its process of changing and restarting, and at one point, I couldn't even get the bios to load -- I had to use the back2bios button and reset the defaults for the performance settings...
