I just tried it anyway. On exiting the BIOS the PC was just stuck with the power light on and didn't restart as normal after changing the BIOS setting. I held down the power button to restart at which point it invited me to enter the BIOS in 'safe mode'. I checked Dynamic Memory Boost was set...
Thanks for the above replies. I've now set those power limits back to Auto but kept the 85C temperature limit resulting in a 2% improvement in the Cinebench score. What is realistic maximum CPU temperature to set using my Noctua NH-D14 cooler?
My new Asus Z790 board has a BIOS option for "Dynamic Memory Boost" to switch between the standard RAM speed and XMP profile speed for more demanding applications. Is this worth using to save a small amount of power and reduce temperature or is it just inviting problems?
I've built a new PC using an i7-13700K CPU and Asus Z790 motherboard. The BIOS is set to defaults except that I set a maximum CPU temperature of 85C, a Short Duration Package Power Level 200W and Long Duration Package Power Level 125W.
On running Cinebench R23 I get a decent benchmark score c...
I've now connected the two Noctua CPU fans to separate connectors (CPU_FAN & CPU_OPT). I still can't set a fan duty cycle below 60% in QFan in manual mode. I'm not sure if this is by design or a bug.
I've just built a new PC using an Asus TUF Gaming Plus WiFi Z790 board and a Noctua NH-D14 cooler. The Noctua cooler has a Noctua NF-P12 PWM fan and a Noctua NF-P14 PWM fan connected via a splitter cable to the CPU fan header. All works fine but in the BIOS I can't set a CPU fan duty cycle...
I've built a new PC using an Asus Z790 motherboard having Wi-Fi 6E (2x2 Wi-Fi 6E (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax)) which supports the 2.4/5/6GHz frequency bands. I also now have a new fibre to cabinet 75Mbs broadband service supplied with a Zyxel DX3301-TO

My Asus Z790 motherboard has the Asus Moving WiFi antenna which connects with two sockets on the rear panel. There is no colour coding to indicate each lead is foe a different waveband so does it matter how the antenna is connected. One of the leads has detached which I'll try to fix but the...
Is there any advantage enabling and using the IRST driver for my main NVMe SATA drive using an Asus Z790 board? I guess I would have to enable IRST in the BIOS then select the option Map PCIE Storage Under VMD? There is also an option to Map SATA Controller Under VMD which I don't understand.
My new Asus Z790 board has various settings for ASPM currently disabled by default. Is there any advantage in enabling them for a desktop PC only have a NVidia GPU in the main PCIe slot:
Here are the settings currently disabled:

I'm using the latest BIOS 0812, Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 case, Noctua NH-D14 cooler in standard configuration (air flow from case front to rear) , two front fans (air in), one rear fan (air out) one bottom fan (air in), one top fan (air out).
I've just built a new PC using an Asus TUF Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard & i7-13700k CPU & Noctua NH-D14 cooler. I'm still checking the BIOS configuration and haven't installed Windows yet.
With BIOS defaults, the idle CPU temperature in the BIOS is 34C in the EZ Mode view. However, when you go...
I want to connect a USB C header on my new Asus motherboard to an existing front panel having 2 USB 3,0 sockets. Is there an adapter to convert from the Type C socket on the motherboard to the USB 3.0 lead from the front panel?
