Okay, I seem to have found the problem. The bottom two SATA plugs(which are the ones I am using) apparently occupies PCIE lanes. 13thmonkey is right. Will post updates once I get back from work and have the SATA cables rerouted.

And I have the card placed in the uppermost slot so positioning should not be the problem here..

no. It's bottlenecked by the sata interface. if you get it on a pcie interface, it'll go lightning fast

Do you have any friends that have a spare cpu that fits? Try theirs and if the same thing happens then it's not the cpu's fault
