Question Building a PC for <£100? Ideas for mobo/CPU.

That's what I thought! Those clever LEDs dissipating heat energy as beautiful light... (I got 8gb crucial green stuff for £8 to bring me to £122 including monitor) PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i3-7100 3.9 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Purchased For £0.00) CPU Cooler: Intel E97379-001 CPU...

Question Building a PC for <£100? Ideas for mobo/CPU.

One more question - is fancy-looking RAM significantly better than boring-looking green stuff? I don't imagine I'll be pushing it hard ...

Question Building a PC for <£100? Ideas for mobo/CPU.

I didn't know what the Q ones were, so was avoiding them through ignorance! And I'd forgotten about the H ones entirely. Thanks for your help!

Question Building a PC for <£100? Ideas for mobo/CPU.

Thanks! I was thinking that this should definitely be possible, but have been scouring eBay for z170/z270/b250 boards and they all seem to want £60+. Maybe I just need to keep looking (it's easy to become impatient!) but I wondered if I was just looking for too old/niche a generation.

Question Building a PC for <£100? Ideas for mobo/CPU.

So my son and I decided to try and build a PC so that we could both play Minecraft at the same time. The idea was to spend less than £100 - relying on secondhand, but still wanting to put it together ourselves (or not buying a crappy old prebuilt). I had an old power supply (no issues with it...

    [SOLVED] Suggestions for PSU upgrade

I went with the Corsair rm650x. Only £15 cheaper, but £82 is still easier than £97. Thanks to all.

    [SOLVED] Suggestions for PSU upgrade

Hi, this is a tweaked repost from the systems thread. I think the PSU might be partly to blame for crashes with the GPU maxing out during battlefront II. Current system is this: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: Intel Core i5-7600K 3.8 GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Slim 2...

[SOLVED] Newbie looking for help with crashing during Battlefront II

Ah, UK-based. Thanks though. This doesn't seem like a bad deal: https://www.currys.co.uk/products/seasonic-focus-gx650-modular-psu-650-w-10205857.html (This is probably now becoming a thread for the PSU side...)

[SOLVED] Newbie looking for help with crashing during Battlefront II

Yeah. I worried about that. I'll have to spend more time in forums looking for a decent PSU that's cheap enough to not upset my wife...! thanks.

[SOLVED] Newbie looking for help with crashing during Battlefront II

Hi All, I've never been much of a gamer, but quite fancied trying Battlefront II. After some frustration with DDU-ing and updating drivers (windows seems to quite often drop the GPU and run without it?) I was able to get the game to load (through Steam) and play for about 2minutes, before the...

[SOLVED] Would you build or buy a basic office PC?

Good to know, thanks. (Maybe I will build another!)

[SOLVED] Would you build or buy a basic office PC?

Nice list, thanks! I'd forgotten about athlon processors. I'll take USAFRet's advice but I'll keep this as a baseline and revert of I can't find anything better. I'll probably have to revisit Ubuntu to keep costs down...

[SOLVED] Would you build or buy a basic office PC?

Thanks. I was worried that someone would suggest buying as the sensible thing to do. I was partly trying to justify shopping for parts again... I'll fight with eBay/laptops direct and see what I can turn up. Cheers

[SOLVED] Would you build or buy a basic office PC?

Would anyone bother to build a really basic office PC, rather than buy one off the shelf? I might be taking a job in another city and will need a computer there. My main motivator is how cheap it could be. I'm not a gamer (unless you count C&C that I just found reborn in OpenRA!) and I haven't...
