ok, everything is 'fixed'....I noted the 'gear' icon out to the top right of a notepad, clicked on that and changed some settings and voila', it's back to normal. Sorry I bothered anybody. I should have done this to begin with!

I don't have an "open recent" in the file tab....just an "open"

disregard! I got it fixed. Tried to delete this thread and didn't see where I could delete it! So sorry!

For some reason, when I click on my notepad shortcut, whether it's the shortcut on the desktop, or in shortcut bar, or in the app itself, it no longer opens a clean page. It opens the last notepad I had been working on....one that had been saved. I actually deleted several of them, and still...
