Correct in that the K versions do not come with a heat sink or fan just a CPU. The difference between a K and a non K is mostly in overclock-ability. Only like a one perhaps two hundred MHz difference in speeds. That also changes the motherboard chipset choice depending on K or no K.

If you are looking to play old DOS based games the best answer is to use DOSBox. It emulates old Sound Blasters etc. for old fashioned gaming.
