I'm curious how that 3Gb of vram will cripple the card at 1080p ultra. We're already using more than 3gig's. The memory compression can't be that good to make up the difference. Guess this card is meant for very high settings and no mSAA. Sounds like a waste. Will be interesting to see benchmarks.

Great build all around. Would build something very similar if I were building a new rig. The performance of the 390's are pretty stellar with amd new drivers "crimson". Only small personal preference things would change like 16gb ram & larger mechanical HDD.

I m so torn between getting a 390 or gtx970. (1st world problems) If amd gvr were as good as shadowplay it wouldn't be a contest. But shadowplay is only a 1-2 fps hit compared amd gvr 10-20fps loss. The gtx 970 uses about 100w less than the 390 under load. But the 390 has better specs on paper...

If intel ever decides to released a skylake or cannonlake unlocked i3 "k" series. Think that would be the death of amd in the entry level pc gaming market.

Great job guys, favorite build so far. If I won this, I would chop up my current rig. Add 10tbs from 4 mechanical HD's & 1 ssd 128gb. Add a avermedia capture card. Use this system for 3ds max rendering & game streaming . In a heartbeat.

Just use Tom's best GPU charts as a general reference for performance rather than the Gospel. Use PcPartPicker to check price's in North America. Because you can get each of these cards $40-100 less. If you compare online retailers.
