    Noctua nh-l9i and 4670k

I forgot to mention that I already have the cooler and not planning nor have the budget to change it. Silence was the reason I got it in the first place.

    Noctua nh-l9i and 4670k

Hi, I need some advice - I have a Z87 mini-ITX board. I was supposed to put in it a 4590s but it was DOA, so I returned it and now that I got my money back I am ready to order another CPU. Was gonna order the same but the price of the 4690k is so competitive right now that it's sold for only 10...

Some advice needed: motherboard and cpu

About 750 euro excl. case. I am going for a total overkill for my needs, hence the i5, 450w rm450 and Noctua cooling, but noise level are important and this rig is going to serve me in the next 7 years or so.

Some advice needed: motherboard and cpu

Thanks for your replay DonQuixoteMC. Taking a discrete sound card is of course something I had thought about. I can get a decent card for around 25€ with the H87 mobo and it will still save me some 25€ (from the price of the z87), so I guess that's the way to go. And a bit of topic - any idea...

Some advice needed: motherboard and cpu

Hi there! So, I'm planning this haswell-based mini-itx rig. It's intended to run as cool and quiet as possible, and will use the processor's integrated graphics (no gaming whatsoever). My initial plan was to put one of the i5-4xxxS in it (prob 4570s), mainly for its low thermal output, but when...

    zalman FX100 passive CPU cooler

Thanks for your reply ngrego, this was helpful. I think what I'm gonna do is to get the Noctua NH-U9B SE2, with its rather deep heatsink (so that the case's exhaust fan can 'pull' the heat out efficiently and try it passively. If temps are ok I can than use the two fans it comes with as case...

    zalman FX100 passive CPU cooler

Using one of the horizontal Noctua coolers is something I thought of, but my gut feeling tells me that it's better to use a vertical cooler, since it doesn't interfere with the natural flow in the case (all intake fans cace the same direction). Haven't looked into this too much tho, am I talking...

    zalman FX100 passive CPU cooler

I'm in Finland so I could use the extra heat... ;-) But seriously, it's all about the noise. I am trying to build something that's as silent as possible, and since I am not using any processor-intensive applications I am almost certain that a passive cooler can handle the task, especially when...

    zalman FX100 passive CPU cooler

A quick question - do you think a passive cpu cooler such as the zalman FX100 can handle a low TDP processor (Haswell i5 4670s, 65w) in a node 304 with stock fans set to the lowest or medium speed? I'm also planning on low power RAM so less heat generated there as well

    Compatibility of H87 mini-ITX mobos and low-voltage DDR3 ?

Well, according to this page the specific Kingston LoVo chips are supported in the Asus h87i-plus, but not in the Asrock. Done deal. This page

    Compatibility of H87 mini-ITX mobos and low-voltage DDR3 ?

Thanks for the link, seems like it will work just fine. Do you think 1.35v memory is worth the premium over normal 1.5v chips for a SFF PC that's aimed at quiet operation? Regarding the mobo, I actually have a hard time choosing one. The Asus indeed seems nice, but out of almost all of the...

    Compatibility of H87 mini-ITX mobos and low-voltage DDR3 ?

Typo, of course. It was past midnight when this was written... The question is about DDR3

    Compatibility of H87 mini-ITX mobos and low-voltage DDR3 ?

Hi! I'm always getting good comments here so I'm trying my luck again: Would anyone happen to know whether H87 mini-ITX boards, namely Asus H87I-PLUS and Asrock H87M-ITX, support 1.35V DDR chips? The lists of compatible memory for both boards don't provide too helpful information, but common...

    ASRock H87E-ITX availabilty?

Thanks, that's the one I was talking about, and I too only found it at the end in Australian shops. Any idea if they intend to ship it to Europe soon?
